Gravity gradient noise from asteroids

The gravitational coupling of nearby massive bodies to test masses in a wave (GW) detector cannot be shielded, and gives rise 'gravity gradient noise' (GGN) the detector. In this paper we show that for any GW using local Inner Solar System, GGN from motion field $\sim 10^5$ System asteroids presents an irreducible noise floor detection rises exponentially at low frequencies. This severely limits prospects frequencies $f_{\text{GW}} \lesssim (\text{few})\times 10^{-7}\,$Hz. At higher frequencies, find asteroid falls rapidly enough may possible; however, incompleteness existing catalogs with regard small makes open question around $f_{\text{GW}}\sim \mu$Hz, further study is warranted. We network placed Outer would not overwhelmed by above 10\,$nHz, make comments on alternative approaches could overcome limitations 10\,$nHz-$\mu$Hz band.
